We offer consulting in the various areas of computer and network technology impacting small offices. From "How many?" and "What type of computers?" to "How do I connect my computer to the Internet?" and "What software do we need to circulate materials?" we provide answers to questions without the hype of vendor claims.

Basic Network Design

What type of network is best for your offices? How much security is required? What alternatives are there for equipment and wiring? We provide basic information and tutorials regarding network connectivity.

Internet Connectivity

For many small offices, normal consumer dial-up connections to the Internet will provide adequate access to the Internet. We help you answer questions you should examine before making a final decision. What other alternatives are available when multiple users need simultaneous access to the Internet? How much bandwidth is enough? What equipment is required and what special considerations should be examined?

Web Site Development

If you need a web site and don't want to create or maintain it yourself, we can create one for you. Our web development services include the initial site design and creation, maintaining the site by adding your changes and new pages, hosting the web site (making it available from our web server, or contracting a serve for your business use), site promotion, and others. See our web development page for more information.

Technology Planning

Computer technology is increasingly needed to provide the office functions and fill the information needs of your organization. Having a plan for maintenance and future acquisition and growth is essential. We can assist you in developing a plan for the use of technology, one that is thorough:

forecasting future trends and expected needs
reviewing all the technologies currently available
fulfilling the specific goals of your organization's services
creating budgets that provide for adequate, continuous service

and reasonable: planning for the equipment and software your organization needs to accomplish its goals — not burdening it with trendy, generally unnecessary technology.

Computer Specifications

We provide assistance in the development of computer and network equipment specifications for bid documents and grant applications. We help you determine the appropriate level of computing power required for each component in a technology project. We can also help you maximize each component's life cycle through a plan for upgrades and reassignment of its function.

Small Library Automation

We provide answers to questions regarding library automation for small public libraries and organizational libraries. What software is available and what functions does it provide? How much will it cost? How do we convert paper catalog cards into electronic records? How do we make our catalog of holdings available to users over the Internet?

For More Information

If you would like more information about any of our services, please send an e-mail message with your specific questions or listing your organization's needs. We'll respond with answers and/or a description of how we can assist you.
